Whether you call them drones, quadcopters or UAVs, they’ve been getting a bit of a bad rep in the press lately. For a product that’s still in it’s youth and attracting both untrained and unlicensed users, quadcopters and pilots are making a difference in the lives of others simply by lending a hand.
In Palm Beach County, Florida a group called Loxahatchee Lost and Found Pets is using quadcopters like the DJI Mavic Pro drone, to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Drone Pilot Kenneth Hendrick shares his time and his technology to scour large patches of land capturing high quality video that searchers can review to help expand the search for lost pets. The group reunites about 85 lost pets with their owners every month, but we’re not sure how many of those involve the use of Hendricks quadcopter.
